Name: The Mammals
Date: May 19, 2018
Time: 8:00 PM - 11:45 PM EDT
Event Description:
Indie roots trailblazers The Mammals, who energized audiences in the ‘00s with their “Trad is Rad” folk message, have emerged from "hibernation" with a new Sunshiner record and triumphant U.S. tour. "The Mammals don’t suffer from multiple genre syndrome, they celebrate it as if gleefully aware that the sound barriers separating old-timey music, vintage pop and contemporary folk are as permeable as cotton.” (Washington Post). Fronted by Mike + Ruthy, second-generation fiddler/singer Ruth Ungar (daughter of fiddler Jay Ungar) and multi-instrumental wordsmith Mike Merenda, The Mammals are a dynamic five-piece Americana quintet from New York’s storied Hudson Valley carrying on the work of Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie, with a deep original repertoire, searing American roots sound, and a message of hope for humanity. Their dynamic shows regularly bring a tear to the eye and hope to the hearts of listeners of all generations. In an era of disconnect, The Mammals work to re-connect through their truth-telling lyrics, off-the-cuff storytelling and euphoric instrumentals.
